Molly Roškar

of Atelier Indigo and Oak has had the pleasure of working on objects from master cabinet makers and architects. She has repurposed items discarded by others and rediscovered their beauty. She has spent years of work and research on traditional methods of wood finishing, such as french polishing with Indian shellac or the often overlooked methods of polishing with oil, hide glue or soap. These sustainable traditional processes result in surface finishes that age gracefully. However, the scope of these methods is not limited to antiques but can also be rethought for modern objects. A high-quality, sustainable finish ensures that on object can serve for generations, moving us away from discarding toward restoring and creating things with permanence and depth.

Indigo and Oak functions on the premise that anything well built with practical purpose or beautiful intention is something worth the work.

Molly offers a free consultation on antique, vintage, or modern objects constructed of natural materials i.e. wood, cement, plaster, clay, stone, and metal.

She also can offer a multitude of possibilities for architectural surfaces: Interior cabinets, wood framing and wall surfaces. With the final balance of color, texture and form in mind she can shape extrinsic surfaces composed with pigment, clay, cement, plaster, shellac, metal leaf or textile.

Indigo and Oak is available for international consulting and work and can offer onsite training for application of bespoke finishes.
